At last night’s San Francisco DevOps Meetup, Mitchell Hashimoto (creator of Vagrant) was the featured speaker.

Mitchell gave a quick overview of why Vagrant is important and then gets into some interesting and useful tips and tricks.

Vagrant is one of those interesting tools that has bubbled up from the DevOps community. It’s relatively easy to use and shows that there is a better way to do things (in this case, using virtualization to improve the development and testing lifecycle).

  1. A good tip if you’re thinking about going to college is to get all of your general education out of the way. This means that you take your basic classes at a community college so that when you’re finally at college, you’re able to take good classes that are worth the money. Unlock Her Legs

Avoid fried food when you are trying to lose weight fast. Fried foods are high in fats and calories. There are many ways to prepare food that are much healthier and leaner. Some good alternatives are roasting, steaming, broiling, baking and grilling. After trying some of these various methods, you won’t even want fried food.

  3. Avoid all fried foods! All fried foods contain calories derived from the oil in which they were made. This adds needless calories to your diet along with no extra nutrients. French fries, for example, contain more calories from the oil they were made in than the potatoes they actually are.

  4. The surrounding environment is critical in determining your propensity to study effectively. Your dorm room is rarely a great place to study. Look for a quieter area that is free from interruptions. Usually, the library is the best location. When you cannot find a suitable place to study, you can also use special noise-cancelling headphones.

  5. To help you with your weight loss regime, make a list of your favorite fruits and vegetables, and research interesting and appealing sounding recipes you can make with them. Smoothies or juicing vegetables are great for this, as are more exotic items you might not normally try. Remember, making your diet interesting and fun will increase the chances of you sticking with it.

  6. Always have a bottle of water with you at school. You absolutely must be sure to drink enough water day in and day out. It is especially helpful if your classes are right after one another. If you drink water, you will be able to stay on top of your classes. You can even refill your bottle at a water fountain.

  7. Before your first day of classes, you should memorize your schedule and the location every place you will need to be. Time your route from one course to the next, and plan the best way to get there. Mark your classes as well as other important locations, such as the library, on a map for easy reference until you learn them.

When choosing an exercise routine, choose something that you enjoy doing. If you enjoy doing the routine, chances are you will stick to it. If you dread your routine, you will continually make excuses as to why you can’t or don’t want to get in your workout for the day.

  10. Have your soil analyzed by a laboratory for a small fee so that you know which nutrients you need to add. Many college agricultural departments or cooperative extensions will provide this service for just a few dollars. Once you have the report, head to a farm supply company and buy what you need.

  11. It might seem like a good idea to do one of these fad diets. Though if you want to lose weight and keep it off for good, do not fall for these types of diets. Fad diets may seem like the answer initially but a diet that consists of limited foods is doomed to fail because of the monotony. This will never help you find another way to consume foods. The most effective diets are those that focus on teaching you how to eat a balanced diet.

  12. Keep fast food consumption to a minimum and brush your teeth right after eating a hamburger.

  13. For maximum fitness results a healthy diet needs to be combined with an exercise program. The two processes are mutually complementary. Eating well helps you work out better; working out encourages you to eat better. When you make sure to address both areas simultaneously you will find yourself getting fit much faster.

  14. If you are heading out after a long day, quickly apply matte powder to oily areas. This will freshen up your face. You can enhance your cheeks by using some shimmery powder on them.

Make sure to make time for both socializing and academics. Some students spend all their times in their dorm rooms studying, which can be depressing and lonely, while others are so social that their coursework suffers. You should get out of your room and do something fun at least once a week and devote at least an hour a night to studying for each of your classes to help you stay balanced.
